Inspiring Students to be Independent!

Inspiring Students to be Independent is difficult if you’re not willing to let them be independent! Students need to be aloud to struggle and fail, or succeed on their own to learn important life lessons. We have made this increasingly impossible in an over protected world where too many are coddled, babied or just given a pass, everyone wins with or without skills. Students and parents are worried about failure or the appearance of failure, yet if you have never been free to fail, or succeed on your own merits you cannot learn from the struggle, perseverance, or resiliency of overcoming and pushing through. Let kids “run with scissors, play with fire, use knives, and get close to danger” so when they do eventually find out about the pain of failing it is not too hard to overcome. Protect you students yes, but it is essential to trust and let them make real decisions with at times painful consequences.

Kid Nation highlights kids being kids and parent giving them a chance to succeed and fail.
